Stress Busters

The last thing most of us need is more stress. So why not take steps to reduce some of yours? Constant stress may make you prone to real health problems. And while you probably can't avoid stress altogether, there are things you can do to help you deal with it.

Relaxing can be as easy as breathing.

Deep breathing, that is. Try inhaling deeply through your nose and counting to 10, then breathing out slowly for another 10 seconds. Ahhhh. Do it 5 to 10 times in a row and repeat it several times a day. Need more help relaxing? Think about taking up meditation or yoga.

Make time for a few laughs.

They say laughter is good medicine. But many people don't know that it could also be good for stress. So look for the humor in life. Swap a few jokes. Watch a good comedy on TV. Or spend a little more time with people who make you laugh.

A little stress may be part of your day. But learning to manage it may help keep it from becoming too big a part of your life.
